Born in 1970 Nils Faerber is computer addicted since the first science fiction films: "Oh my god! It's full of blinken lights!". After some booring years in school he still thinks that digital watches are a pretty neat idea and so went out to explore this brave new world in detail.
As student of computer science at the university of Siegen and subsequently without the financial power to invest in expensive commercial tools he came to the conclusion that free software is the good side of the power. Starting with Linux 0.96 he came to the wonderful world of free software and its development and still sticks to it.
His activities include Linux kernel hacking, especially for other
platforms than x86 and embedded hardware. He has also published several
articles in different magazines about this topic. All this culminated in
the year 1999 in founding an own company, kernel concepts, which
